At the point where the Blue and White Nile converge to birth the majestic River Nile, our odyssey commenced in Khartoum, Sudan's capital. Driven by curiosity, we ventured into the Bayuda Desert's core, unearthing ancient Kushite and Kemetian relics that whisper tales of Ancient Nubia and Egypt. The lush oases along the Nile stand in stark contrast to the sweeping sands of the desert. With a friendly local driver guiding our path, we navigated deep into the ever-expanding desert, uncovering astounding ruins of temples, cities, palaces and ancient pyramids.
We visited the holy mountain of Jebel Barkal a central religious and political centre for the ancient Kingdom of Kush. The great temple is dedicated as the source of the creator god Amun, one of the most important deities in Egyptian and Kushite spirituality. Within the larger Temple, there is a smaller temple dedicated specifically to his goddess wife Hathor. She was known as the goddess of motherhood and love, music and dance. Sudan's rich tapestry of ancient pyramids, temples, spir and history resonated deeply with me, leaving an indelible mark on my spirit. This adventure led to the creation of the award-winning documentary film, "Nubian Spirit: The African Legacy of the Nile Valley
