While producing the biographic documentary "Africa’s Black Star: The Rise and Fall of Kwame Nkrumah" for Press TV, I travelled to Accra, the capital of Ghana, to consult with experts familiar with his life. Our journey took us to archive centres, museums, political buildings, and significant landmarks. Along the way, we interviewed journalists, pan-Africanists, family members, friends, and colleagues of Nkrumah to gain a deeper understanding of his legacy. Kwame Nkrumah was not only Ghana's first leader post-colonial rule but also one of Africa's pioneering figures towards independence.
He was a visionary who dreamt of a united States of Africa. Regrettably, Western powers exerted significant efforts to remove him from power. Throughout our time in Ghana, we were embraced warmly by its people. This experience was profoundly educational, shedding light on Pan-Africanism and Western political dynamics.
